Brands Built for the Trust Deficit: Designing brands that can withstand scrutiny, earn trust, and keep their promise when looking credible is no longer enough

Keynote
In a market where AI is making polished brand expression faster, cheaper, and easier to produce, looking credible is no longer enough. The next generation of successful brands will not be defined by the sharpness of their logo, the confidence of their messaging, or the polish of their digital presence alone. They will be defined by what they can prove. In this session, Lindsay Smith and René Thomas of Takt introduce the Brand Matrix, a practical brand framework and operating system designed to help organizations examine the full system behind their brand, from purpose, culture, and competencies to expression, relationships, positioning, and promise. Through examples, diagnostic paths, and hands-on application, attendees will learn how to identify the gaps between what an organization says, what it can deliver, and how it actually behaves. The session will show where most brands break down, why traditional frameworks often over-index on external expression, and how leaders can use the Matrix to pressure-test strategy, align teams, govern brand decisions, and build brands that are not just polished, but believable.
